BOUNTIFUL, UT (August 19, 2017) - Ron Davis capped off a successful season with a win in the Utah Senior Stroke Play Championship at Bountiful Ridge Golf Club.
Davis closed awith a two-under 69 to win by one shot over home-course favorite Steve Poulson, and by two shots over Brigham Gibbs, with whom Davis shared the lead after two rounds.
Davis opened with a 68 to take a one shot lead over Gibbs, with three others two back. Gibbs moved into a tie for the lead after a second-day 70, with Poulson one shot back.
Poulson birdied three straight holes starting at the 6th to take the lead, but Davis responded with birdies at 12 and 13, and when Poulson bogeyed the 17th, Davis just had to make par at the last hole to win.
In addition to his eight tournament wins this season, Davis made it to the semifinals of the Utah Senior Amateur (match play) in June.
Tom Jones won the Super Seniors division at one over par, while Richard Dibblee won the Net division.
