In a ceremony prior to the 2017 Canadian Open, Vokey and amateur Judy Darling Evans become inductees No. 78 & 79
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Vokey, 77, is one of the world’s foremost wedge designers, making Titleist Vokey wedges a trusted brand among golfers across the globe — from juniors just learning the game to rising amateur stars to PGA Tour pros. Over the years, the master craftsman has designed wedges for many of golf’s legends – past and present – including: Seve Ballesteros, Lee Trevino, Bernhard Langer, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy.

From a young boy growing up in Verdun, outside Montreal, working in his dad’s machine shop, to today, Vokey has never forgotten where he came from. Entering the Golf Hall of Fame is truly a dream come true for the club maker. In his speech he told a story of driving by the sign several years ago and letting his mind wander, thinking 'wouldn’t that be special if he ever joined the elite group of individuals whose names are enshrined there?'
“In all my years I never could have dreamed that this honor would come my way,” he said at the ceremony.
Reflecting on all the greats of the game who entered the hall before him, Vokey was humbled that his name now joins this long list of players, architects, and other builders of the great game of golf in his home and native land. “I’m not worthy,” he told former PGA Tour player Ian Leggatt of Global News, in a sit-down interview afterwards. “I feel like I don’t belong, but I’m so honoured … it will just be a little while before I will feel really comfortable with this.”
One of the greatest players ever - Jack Nicklaus - was one of the many honorary guests. What made the day even more special for Vokey was that 17 legends of Canadian golf were on hand to witness his induction, including such legendary amateur golfers as Marlene Streit, Gary Cowan, Jocelyne Bourassa, Mary Ann Hayward.
In attendance to witness Vokey’s induction were at least a dozen representatives from AmateurGolf.com sponsor Titleist, including President and Chief Executive Officer of the Acushnet Companies: Wally Uihlein.
