The target-style course challenged golfers

Course takes its toll, but Kris Baxter takes six-stroke victory

ROCKLIN, Calif. (May 20, 2007)-- Unfamiliarity with the target-golf style, Johnny Miller-designed Whitney Oaks Golf Club made for some long days and high scores at the amateurgolf.com Capitol City Amateur.

In the end, it was Kris Baxter of Atherton who was able to put together a steady, 71-70--141 to take a six-stroke victory.

Billy Moon, who lives closer to the course in Auburn, was coming off a serious neck injury, and after opening with a 69 slid back in the second round to finish tied for second with Matt Marshall by carding a 147.

Bob Alves of Sacramento hung on to win the Senior Division, while Gene Booth of Pleasanton carded a four stroke victory in the Net Division.
