Gianluca Petrozzi shot England’s lowest score of the day, a two-under par 70, which included two eagles in the first four holes. Italy, defending champions,
Scotland, Spain, Denmark and France, who are placed fifth to ninth respectively, are separated by three shots. Teams of 6 players representing their home
country. Two rounds of stroke play qualifying in a
5-scores-of-6 format determines two match play
brackets of 8 teams each.
Team matches consist of two best-ball matches and
singles matches, with the team winning more points
(out of 7 total) advancing.
