USC freshman Cheng Jin to play in PGA Tour's RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD, SC (April 11, 2017) - Thanks to his win at the Players Amateur last July USC freshman Cheng Jin is in the field at this weeks RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Jin started the final round in the lead but bogeyed the first three holes to open the door to the field. However, Jin regained his form and after a closing 2-under 70 he was able to finish 13-under and the winner by two-strokes.

"It will be my first PGA Tour event besides the Masters," said Jin who qualified in 2016 by winning the Asia-Pacific Amateur. "I am really looking forward to it.”

The appearance at the RBC Heritage comes in between the end of top-ranked USC's regular season the beginning of postseason play. So far Jin has played in seven events this season for the Trojans with his best finish coming at the Southern Highlands Collegiate where he finished third.

Jin will begin his first round at 1:30 p.m. EST on the 1st hole with playing partners Tommy Gainey and Sam Saunders.

The group will begin their second round at 8:50 a.m. on No. 10.
