Arthur Kim, Gretchen Johnson and Brad Carey won their respective divisions this past weekend at Arrowhead Golf Club

MOLALLA, OR (April 2, 2017) -- Arthur Kim (Tigard, Ore.), Gretchen Johnson (Portland, Ore.) and Brad Carey (Lake Oswego, Ore.) won their respective divisions this past weekend at the 73rd OGA Tournament of Champions, held April 1-2 at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore. The first Championship of the OGA season featured club champions from OGA Member Clubs from the past two years, as well as select eligible OGA champions from 2015 and 2016. Kim had been close to winning the Tournament of Champions in previous years – in 2015, he finished second, and last year, he was one shot back of the lead after the first day, only to end up finishing T5. This year, Kim had a one-shot lead going in to Sunday. During the second and final round, Kim made a crucial birdie on the par-4 17th hole, and finished at 2-under par for the tournament (68-72 – 140). However, William Snow (Vancouver, Wash.) birdied the 36th hole on Sunday to force a playoff between the two players. Kim won the Open title after a birdie on the second playoff hole. Both Kim and Snow finished at 2-under par for the 36-hole event. Tanner Huddleston (Woodland, Wash.), last year’s runner-up, earned a third-place finish after rounds of 69-72 – 141 (-1). Jake O’Neal (Vancouver, Wash.) finished in fourth place, shooting 72-70 – 142 (E). Johnson’s win marks her second-career OGA title – she won the Inaugural Oregon Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship last year with teammate Amanda Jacobs (Portland, Ore.). Johnson entered play on Sunday with a two-shot lead over her teammate in last year’s Four-Ball, and never looked back, winning by an impressive seven shots. Her rounds consisted of 70-70 – 140 (-2). Brie Stone (Veneta, Ore.), two-time winner of this event in 2011 and 2012, earned second place after shooting 76-71 – 147 (+5). Jacobs and 2016 Oregon Junior Amateur champion Haley Greb (Pendleton, Ore.) tied for third place at 6-over par. In the Senior Men’s Division, Carey entered Sunday’s round three shots back of first-round leader Tom Prevost (McMinnville, Ore.). However, a strong final round 68 (-3) earned Carey a one-shot win. His event included rounds of 72-68 – 140 (-2). Neal Brown (Roseburg, Ore.) and Pat O’Donnell (Happy Valley, Ore.) tied for second place, one shot back of Carey at 1-under par. Brad Karns (Vancouver, Wash.) earned fourth place after rounds of 71-73 – 144 (+2).
