Patty Moore defends title, has won tourney four of six times she's entered
SPARTANBURG, SC (April 18, 2007)-- Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC won her fourth Carolinas Women's Senior Championship on Wednesday at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, SC. The 56 year-old Moore has won this event four out of six years that she has been eligible to compete. She previously claimed titles in 2001, 2004, and 2006.
While Moore had a hard day, shooting an 81, she still was able to fend off fellow competitors to win the championship by four shots.
"I think trying to defend a title can add a little extra pressure to your round," said Moore. "I take all my wins pretty seriously and I am excited to be able to win another senior championship title."
Runner-up Melissa Sage also of Charlotte, NC fired a 79 which was the best round of the day. After the first round players were put into flights based on score.
Ginger Lash of Pinehurst, NC won the Super Senior division. The Super Senior Division plays a shorter course.
