Steve Hudson teamed with Lawrence Field to win the title

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (March 29, 2017) -- Steve Hudson and Lawrence Field overcame a one shot deficit at the start of the day to win the Ed Tutwiler Four-Ball by a stoke. The winning duo moved in front on Wednesday with a final round 66, the low round of the tournament, to post a 54-hole total of 202.
In the first two rounds at the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Country Club Hudson and Field fired rounds of 67-69.
36-hole leaders Donald Detweiler and Paul Simson (67-68-68--203) were forced to settle for second place, Chip Lutz and Marlin Detweiler (71-66-69--206) were third, Lewis Stephenson and Lee Sandlin (72-64-71--207) ended up fourth while Happy Rakestraw and Steve Rodgers (69-70-69--208) were fifth.
In the Super Senior Division Robert Hess and Ronnie Tumlin (64-65-70--199) won in wire-to-wire fashion by a comfortable six shots.
The second place position was taken by Mark Miller and Gary Vanier (69-68-68--205) as Don Russell and Tom Davis (72-66-68--206); Ron Johnson and Carl Selkirk (66-70-70--206) shared third.
ROUND TWO RECAP
The leaderboard has remained crowded, but now with one round remaining at the Ed Tutwiler Four-Ball there is just one team leading. After beginning the day in a three-way tie for first at the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Country Club, Donald Detweiler and Paul Simson have moved in front by one.
Through two rounds Detweiler and Simson have tallied rounds of 67-68--135 to open up their advantage.
Their slim lead is over a pair of teams with 136 totals. Steve Hudson and Lawrence Field (67-69--136); Lee Sandlin and Lewis Stephenson (72-64--136) are tied for third while one shot behind them in a tie for fifth at 137 are the teams of Marlin Detweiler and Chip Lutz (71-66--137); Tom Phillips and John Bracken (70-67--137).
The 64 that Sandlin and Stephenson shot in the second round is currently the low round of the tournament.
In the Super Senior Division the lead remained in the hands of Robert Hess and Ronnie Tumlin (64-65--129). The duo started the day two shots in front, but with their continued strong play they extended their lead to seven shots.
In second place it is Ron Johnson and Carl Selkirk (66-70--136) with three other teams sharing third with a 137 mark.
ROUND ONE RECAP
The leaderboard is a crowded one with 18-holes remaining at the Ed Tutwiler Four-Ball hosted by the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Country Club.
Of the 21 teams in the Senior Division, 15 of them will begin the second round within five shots of the three-way tie for the lead.
The lead group following 67's is comprised of Donald Detweiler and Paul Simson; Steve Hudson and Lawrence Field; Dan Levinson and Adam Kugler. In fourth place just one shot behind at 68 is Harold Payne and John Duty Sr. while Robbie Dew and Rocky Costa; Happy Rakestraw and Steve Rodgers share fifth thanks to 69's.
In the Super Senior Division the duo of Robert Hess and Ronnie Tumlin fired an opening 64 to take a two shot lead. John Olive and Rick George; Ron Johnson and Carl Selkirk are sharing third with 66's.
