Jay King wins Pine Oaks Invitational

OCALA, FL (March 26, 2017) -- Jay King, Berger Warner and Dick McDonough hung on to win their respective divisions in the Pine Oaks Invitational.

King birdied the final hole to edge out Drew Ditty for the championship title. Both King and Ditty fired final round scores of 3-under-par 69's. King’s two day total was a 4-under-par 140 and Ditty’s was a 3-under-par 141. Finishing alone in third place was Daniel Owen with a 1-under-par 141 total. Fourth went to Matt Madson with a 147 score (74-73).

In the Senior Division, Berger Warner went wire-to-wire in winning the title. Warner backed up his opening round of 3-under-par 69 with a 73 for a 2-under-par 142 total and a three shot win. Bobby Bryant finished second with a 145 (71-74). Third place went to Walter Himelsbaugh (Leesburg) with a 146 (71-75). A 147 score put four players in a tie for fourth, Dave Falcone (74-73), Jeff Faulkner (78-69), Jeff Morley (75-72) and Kevin Macy (Tampa) (71-76).

First round leader Dick McDonough shot a final round 75 to go with his opening round 69 and win the Super Senior Division. McDonough’s 144 total was two better than runner-up Ron Audi (75-71 – 146). Third place was David Lee (IL) with a 148 with Mike Arminio finishing fourth with a 150 (72-78).

ROUND ONE RECAP

Daniel Owen, Jay King, Berger Warner and Dick McDonough took advantage of ideal weather and course conditions and lead their respective divisions after the first round of the Pine Oaks Invitational.

Playing at Pine Oaks Golf Club, Owens and King fired 1-under-par 71’s and lead the Championship Flight. In third place is Drew Ditty following a 72. Brian Brown and Jay Stiffler are tied for fourth with 73’s.

In the Senior Division, Berger Warner shot a 3-under-par 69 and has a two shot lead over a trio of golfers. Tied for second with 1-under-par 71s are Bobby Bryant, Walter Himelsbaugh (Leesburg) and Kevin Macy (Tampa).

Dick McDonough shot a 3-under-par 69 and has a three shot advantage over Mike Arminio (72). tied for third are Don Pyykola and Ron Audi.
