Cold weather and low scores were the story on day one of the South Carolina Partners

COLUMBIA, SC (March 4, 2017) -- With a bitterly cold start to the day, the teams of Geno Berchiatti and Robert Lutomski along with Marcus and Shane Grumbles are tied for the lead in the SCGA’s 25th Annual Partners Championship in the Championship Division which played the Spring Valley layout in Columbia.

Both teams had birdies filling the card as they went low with scores of 11-under-par 61. Defending champions, Michael Maness and Greg Jones along with Rob Butler and Cary Phillips are one shot back at 10-under 62.

In the Tournament Division, Bryan and Jonathan Morse hold a one shot lead after posting a 9-under-par score of 63 at The Members Club Woodcreek course. Johnny Pope and Todd Reid along with Brian Kennedy and Scott Smith are tied with scores of 8-under 64.

The final round will be contested with a modified Texas Scramble format and will begin with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
