Cleveland RTX-3 Wedge Review and Video

Three V-shaped grinds with more leading edge bounce cut through the turf more efficiently, while the laser-milled Rotex 3.0 face adds short shot precision

Cleveland's latest wedges show that the company continues to focus on scoring, and their short game ambassador Dave Pelz loves it. In a recent interview, he explained the Rotex 3.0 milling process to me, and why he believes in it so much. Today's faster greens require more spin, and the precision laser milling done by Cleveland allows the wedges to perform better over their life, not in just the first few rounds. What's more, Cleveland adjusts the angle of the milling pattern to the loft of the wedge, so that the higher lofts are optimized for the open-face shot that you will likely hit around the green. The "Tour Zip" grooves are deeper and more narrow; their sharp edge radius improving contact in a variety of conditions. The number of shapes, lofts, and finishes further adds to the allure of the RTX-3 series. The three available grinds are LG (Low Bounce Grind); MG (Mid Bounce Grind); and FG (Full Sole Grind). You can order each of them in blade or cavity back models. Available finish choices include Tour Satin, Black Satin, or Tour Raw (which will rust over time). The dizzying array of choices can be easily narrowed down by working with a Cleveland fitting expert at one of their Wedge Fitting Days.
