Corica Golf Complex will donate two days of greens fees for everyone that tees off after 10:00 a.m. on December 17 and 18

ALAMEDA, CA (December 16, 2016) -- Earlier this week Greenway Golf, operator of the City of Alameda’s Chuck Corica Golf Complex, announced a major fundraising effort for victims of the Oakland Warehouse Fire. The effort will kick off immediately and culminate with two days of donated greens fees for everyone that tees off after 10:00 a.m. on December 17 and 18. Additional funds will be raised by special events on those days, including hole-in-one contests on two par-3 holes on the Earl Fry North Course. Local auto dealerships San Leandro Ford and F.H. Dailey Chevrolet (also of San Leandro) will provide cars on the designated holes. All other par-3's will have proximity contests, and golfers will have the ability to purchase raffle tickets toward valuable golf prizes. Each day from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m., Chuck Corica’s putting green will be buzzing with activity as players view for a chance to compete in the “Major Series of Putting Amateur Championship” in Las Vegas on March 13, 2017. One entry (valued at $350) will be awarded each day to the player with the lowest score on a 6-hole putting course. The organizers of the MSOP have graciously donated these entries so that all entry fee revenue will also be donated to the victims’ fund. (Learn more about MSOP at www.msop.com.) Golf tournaments at city-owned courses frequently raise funds for charity. But in Chuck Corica and Greenway’s case, the connection is even closer. “The Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland – where the Ghost Ship warehouse is located – is just over a mile from Alameda, and just 3.5 miles from the golf course,” said Greenway CEO George Kelley. “We wanted to do something substantial, and the revenue from two days of greens fees and fun activities should have a real impact.” Golfers can call 510-747-7800 to make a tee time for December 17 or 18. Updates will be posted on the website www.alamedagolf.com and at www.facebook.com/AlamedaGolf.
