Weather shortened the Mississippi Gulf Coast Open to 36-holes, Steve Wilson is low amateur in fifth

SAUCIER, MS (December 4, 2016) -- The final round of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Open was cancelled due to poor weather and as a result Casey Fernandez and Kyle Ramey share the title at 3-under. Steve Wilson, 2-over, was the low amateur and he placed fifth. In the all amateur Senior Division Dr. Stewart Horsley won the title at 4-under. Robert David Smith, 3-over, was distant second while Tracy McGuire (+7) was third. The winner in the completely amateur Super Senior Division was Howard Waugh (+2). Lynn Pippin and Dave Czaplicki were second and third respectfully. SECOND ROUND RECAP Casey Fernandez remained atop the leaderboard but now he has some company with Kyle Ramey joining him at 3-under. The former Southern Mississippi players will hold a three-stroke lead when the final round of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Open begins Sunday at Grand Bear Golf Club. Ramey moved into a share of the lead with a 1-under 71 in his second round. The day included four birdies and three bogeys. His final birdie came on the 11th hole. Fernandez maintained his share of the lead with an even-par day that included two bogeys heading out and then a pair of bounce back birdies on the home side. Zack Fischer is the closest pursuer at even-par and in third, Jamie Marshall is 1-over and in fourth while Steve Wilson is a shot further back in fifth. SENIOR DIVISION Dr. Stewart Horsley continued his strong play in the Senior Division and with a 4-under tally he now leads by four shots. Horsley has combined rounds of 68-72 thus far. Robert David Smith is 3-over and in second place while 11 shots behind and in third place it is Tracy McGuire. SUPER SENIOR DIVISION Howard Waugh broke free of his share of the first round lead in a big way thanks to a 1-under 71 on Saturday. Waugh birdied three-times and bogeyed twice on his way to opening up a seven shot advantage. Lynn Pippin is in second and first round co-leader Dave Czaplicki after a tough day feel to third.
