LECANTO, FL (December 2, 2016) --
Mike Arnold overcame a one-stoke deficit on a difficult final day at Black Diamond Ranch to win the Golfweek Senior Tour Championship. For Arnold it was his second Golfweek victory win of the season after having won the
Senior National Match Play in August.
Like many players on Friday Arnold struggled but he was able to pull away with birdies on the 14th and 17th holes as he played the closing five holes in 2-under. Arnold had been 6-over for his round prior to his strong finish that saw him post a final round 4-over 76 and a 7-over 54-hole score.
James Starnes and Mark Nickerson concluded play tied for second at 9-over, the leader after each of the first two rounds Steve Humphrey ended up fourth at 12-over while Hal Wright and Scott Smith shared fifth at 13-over.
SENIOR DIVISION
Robert Hess closed out a wire-to-wire win in the Senior Division as he posted 8-over to finish four clear of a three-way second place tie that included Evan Long, Don Marsh and Jim Rollefson. Bill Engel and Bev Hargraves were two shots further back in a share of fifth.
SUPER SENIOR DIVISION
Edward Craig also won in wire-to-wire fashion finishing six-strokes in front of a trio of second place finishers. The runner-up group includes Charlie Busbee, Elston Mitchell and Gary Shimmin.
