In the low amateur race Travis Smyth will begin the final round one-stroke behind Lee while Curtis Luck is one-stroke further back

ROSE BAY, Australia (November 19, 2016) -- 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur champion Min Woo Lee has moved to the front of the amateur leaderboard after 54-holes at the Australian Open. Lee is presently 6-under and tied for 11th with one day remaining at Royal Sydney Golf Club. In difficult winds Lee posted a third round 1-under 71 to take the amateur lead by one shot of Travis Smyth. Lee started his round with consecutive birdies before holding on for his second straight under-par round. Besides the opening birdies Lee recorded circles on the 7th, 8th and 16th holes. Travis Smyth will begin the final round 5-under and tied for 19th. Smyth had the low round of the day amongst the amateurs with a 3-under 69. 2-over after 4th and 5th hole bogeys Smyth birdied the next three holes to move into the red. From their Smyth birdied three more times and only bogeyed once more. First round co-leader Curtis Luck began the day three off the lead but struggled on Saturday with a 2-over 74 that left him at 6-under and in a share of 22nd. Luck was 4-over for the day with just three holes to go, however he was able to salvage some of his round with birdies on Nos. 16 and 18. Through the first three rounds Lee is 4-under on the final three holes at Royal Sydney Golf Club. Two other amateurs made the cut and Zach Murray is 2-over in a tie for 59th while Harrison Endycott is tied for 63rd at 3-over. 2016 U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy leads the tournament at 11-under. Ogilvy shot the round of the day with an 8-under 64 on Saturday.
