Team Austin took home the title on the strength of an 11-3 first day
LOST PINES, TX (November 6, 2016) -- Team Austin rode a big first day lead to a win at the 2016 I-35 Rudy's Cup. The final day single matches against Team San Antonio were split 7-7 but the group from Austin was still able to ease into a 17-11 victory at the Hyatt Wolfdancer Golf Club.
Starting the day leading 11-3 following Saturday's Four-Ball and Foursomes Team Austin was never really challenged on Sunday.
Team Austin picked up full points from Barrett Sandefur (4&3), Gene Black (1 up), Steve Paterson (1 up), Erik Henson (1 up) and Chris Benestante (1 up).
DAY ONE RECAP
Team Austin won 11 of a possible 14 points to open up a commanding 11-3 lead following the first day of play at the I-35 Rudy's Cup. Team San Antonio will attempt to put together a rally of unimaginable proportions during the Sunday singles matches at the Hyatt Wolfdancer Golf Club.
In the morning Four-Balls Team San Antonio won the first two matches before Team Austin found their grove claiming the next five.
It was more the same during the afternoon foursomes with Team Austin capturing four matches outright and only dropping one while two matches were halved.
