Amateurs Britt, Hargett finish tied for second at CPGA Senior Open

Six amateurs finished the final round in the top-10 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club
SOUTHERN PINES, NC (November 1, 2016) -- Amateurs Sherrill Britt and Eddie Hargett both finished 5-under to share second place at the Carolinas PGA Senior Open hosted by the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. The duo finished three-strokes behind wire-to-wire winner, professional Gus Ulrich.
Britt, the 2015 Carolinas PGA Senior Open winner, followed up his first round 4-under 67 with a 1-under 71 in round two. Throughout the the day Britt carded an eagle on the par-5 6th, a 15th hole birdie and two bogeys.
Hargett posted scores of 70-69 during his two days at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. In the final round Hargett got off to a quick start with three birdies in the first five holes before settling down and playing even-par golf the rest of the way, with two bogeys and an eagle three on No. 10.
Ulrich, Britt and Hargett were the only players to finish under-par with a total of six amateurs finishing inside the top-10.
ROUND ONE RECAP
Defending champion Sherrill Britt is in second place and one-stroke back following the opening round of the Carolinas PGA Senior Open. Britt posted 4-under 67 on Tuesday at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.
Following an even-par front nine Britt made his move early on the backside with an eagle on the par-5 10th and then 11th and 12th hole birdies. From there Britt parred his way to the house.
Britt will begin the final round one-stroke behind professional Gus Ulrich, who is 5-under.
In all eight amateurs will begin Wednesday's round inside the top-10. Eddie Hargett and Mark Hodges are tied for third at 3-under, Brian Westveer is 1-under in sixth while Dan Sullivan, Steve Lassiter, Ed Donlin and Keith Waters are all even-par and tied for seventh.
