Julie Harrison began the day three ahead before stretching her lead to seven-strokes
PALM BEACH, FL (October 26, 2016) -- Julie Harrison decided to take any of the drama out of the Women's Southern Senior final round at the Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course as she turned a three-stroke at the start of the day into a seven-stroke margin of victory.
Harrison took the lead in the second round and never looked back as she combined rounds of 75-70-73 to finish with a 54-hole total of 218. In a distant second place it was Therese Quinn with tallies of 76-73-76---225. Laura Carson began the final round three behind before fading to third place at 227, following scores of 74-74-79.
Giggi Higgins (72-77-80--229) and Taffy Brower (74-75-80--229) shared fourth and first round leader Susan West (71-78-81--230) was sixth.
ROUND TWO RECAP
Julie Harrison overtook the Women's Southern Senior lead after the second round at the Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course. So far Harrison has paired rounds of 75-70 to post 145 and open a three-stroke lead.
Laura Carson (74-74--148) is in second place and will be the closest competitor to Harrison when the final round begins Wednesday. Gigi Higgins (72-77--149), Taffy Brower (74-75--149), first round leader Susan West (71-78--149) and Therese Quinn (76-73--149) are tied for third and four back.
ROUND ONE RECAP
Susan West took the lead on the first day of the Women's Southern Senior with a 71 at the Hammock Beach Resort's Conservatory Course. The winner of the last two Alabama Women's Senior Amateur titles will carry a one-stroke lead into Tuesday's second round over Gigi Higgins who fired a 72.
Two others --Taffy Brower and Laura Carson-- are tied for third following opening day 74's.
With 36-holes of play still remaining the tournament is wide open with seven players within five-strokes of the lead.

The WSGA Senior Championship is a 54 hole stroke play event. The field is divided into flights after 36 holes of play.
