Thanks to the round of the week Roy Hunter was able to rally and win the Senior Azalea Invitational

CHARLESTON, SC (September 30, 2016) -- Thanks to the round of the week Roy Hunter was able to rally and win the Senior Azalea Invitational. Hunter surged to the top of the leaderboard with a 3-under 68 to finish 1-under-par and ahead of even-par second place finisher Preston Edmondson by one-stroke. Four-time defending champion and 36-hole leader Brady Exber led by three at the start of the final day at the Country Club of Charleston but struggled opening the door to the field. Exber, who finished tied for third, began the round at 4-under but fell to 1-over due to a 5-over 76. On the day Exber carded five bogeys and failed to roll in a birdie. A number of players had a chance to capitalize but it was Hunter who was able to take full advantage. Beginning the day 2-over, Hunter birdied four holes and bogeyed one during his 3-under 33 front nine to reach 1-under. On the inward nine Hunter did reach 2-under with a birdie on No. 14 but gave it back with a bogey two holes later. Runner-up Preston Edmondson was able to birdie three times during the round, however he was never able to recover from a 14th hole triple-bogey. Kevin King finished in a tie for third with Exber at 1-over while Gary Robinson, Frank Ford III and Alan Thielemann shared fifth at 3-over.
