St. Petersburg, Florida (January 5, 2007) -- Junior standout Peter Uihlein shot a four-under-par 68 today to add to his first round of 66 to take the second round lead at St Petersburg Country Club. His 10 under par total of 134 is one shot ahead of long hitting Augusta State's Major Manning.
Uihlein has won numerous junior events, was the 2005 Rolex Junior Player of the Year, a member of the Canon Cup team, and is the current St. Augustine Amateur champion.
Mid-am Dalton Melnyk, a top finisher in 2006, is tied for third at five under par 139 with Univ of Illinois' Mark Ogren and first round leader Jonathan Mount who slumped to 74.
