With the first day of the John R. Williams Four-Ball Invitational in the books Michael C. Carrig and Brian Kumiega are the leaders

ROCHESTER, NY (September 15, 2016) -- With the first day of the John R. Williams Four-Ball Invitational in the books Michael C. Carrig and Brian Kumiega are the leaders at Oak Hill Country Club. Playing on the West Course Carrig and Kumiega, both from Buffalo, NY, opened with a 7-under 64 and they will carry a one-stroke lead into the second round. With play shifting to the East Course for the final two rounds it will be Billy Hanes and Billy Gaffney to begin day two in second place. Hanes, from Elma, NY and Gaffney, from Williamsville, NY, were part of the first group to tee off and they posted an early 6-under 65. In a tie for third place it is the teams of John Hunter (Houston, TX) and Kyle Nathan (Glenview, IL); Eric Rustand (Tucson, AZ) and Clark Rustand of (Tucson, AZ) at 5-under following an opening 66. Three additional teams are tied for fourth at 4-under. A total of 21 teams are in red figures after one round and within five-strokes of the lead. After the first round Jim Quinn (Arlington, TX) and Don Gafner (Sunnyvale, TX) are leading the Senior Division thanks to a 4-under 67. The duo will carry a one-stroke lead into the second over George Kavanagh (Rochester, NY) and Matt Clarke (Loudonville, NY) who are 3-under. Four teams are currently tied for third at 2-under --Tom Blank (Rochester, NY) and Mark Dugan (Rochester, NY); James McCord (Tullahoma, TN) and John Mccord (Tullahoma, TN); Don H. Erickson III (DuBois, PA) and John Benson (Punxsutawney, PA); John Kircher (Pittsford, MA) and John Salamone (Sherborn, NY). In all 10 teams are even-par or better and within three-strokes of the lead.
