Terry Werner is the only player under-par after the first round at Delaware Country Club
MUNCIE, IN (September 6, 2016) -- Thanks to four birdies in his last five holes Terry Werner has taken the first round lead at the Indiana Senior Amateur. Werner ended up with a 3-under 67 and as the only player under-par at Delaware Country Club he will carry a three-stroke lead into the second round.
Werner, the winner of the 2014 Indiana Senior PGA Open, parred 12 times and bogeyed once during the first 13-holes before catching fire down the stretch. On the 14th Werner rolled in his first birdie of the day and then followed it up with birds on the 15th, 17th and 18th holes.
Three players are tied for second place after even-par 70's. The trio includes Bob Stephens, Sam Till Jr. and Tim Kavanaugh. Marty Rifkin rounds out the top-five in fifth place at 1-over.
In the Super Senior Division Dave Bates is even-par following a 70 and pacing the field by a stroke. Bates birdied three holes and bogeyed three during his round.
Mike Thompson, Jerry Jackson and Jerry Crouch are all tied for second at 1-over. Jim Anthony is 2-over and in fifth place.

36-hole stroke play championship for seniors (age 55+) and super seniors (65+). Must be affiliated with an IGA-PGA Member club and possess a current IGA- PGA BlueGolf handicap index of 14.0 or less.
