Taylor Larsen will face Blake Allen in the Kansas Match Play final
GARDEN CITY, KS (July 23, 2016) -- 17-year old Garden City resident and Southwind member Taylor Larsen will take on 2016 Kansas Boys Junior Amateur champion Blake Allen of Lenexa in the finals of the 106th Kansas Amateur Match Play Championship at The Golf Club at Southwind. Larsen defeated Burlington's Chris McGown by a 3&2 margin in the semifinals. Allen bested former Wichita State Shocker Spencer Christian in the other semifinal by a 1 up margin.
In the first quarterfinal, current Junior Amateur champion and future Washburn Ichabod, Blake Allen defeated Rockhurst University golfer Alex Graf of Wichita 1up. In quarterfinal No. 2, former Wichita State Shocker Spencer Christian defeated Kansas State golfer Trent Evans 2 up. In the third quarterfinal, 17-year Taylor Larsen of Garden City got the best of Washburn golfer Justice Valdivia 2&1. In the final quarterfinal, former Washburn golfer and Burlington resident Chris McGown defeated Wichita native and Southern Illinois golfer Luke Gannon 1 up.
The championship will conclude with the 36-hole final match on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. CST at The Golf Club at Southwind.

ABOUT THE Kansas Amateur
36 holes of individual stroke play qualifying to
determine low 64 players advancing to single
elimination match play bracket. Any player that is
not
exempt from regional qualifying must go through
one
of the five regional qualifying sites or the second
chance qualifier to advance to the championship.
Open
to any male amateur golfer with an active
USGA/GHIN
Handicap Index through a KGA member club.
