John Derrick, James Glenn, Colby Harwell and Culley Barragan share medalist honors at the 2016 Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play

DALLAS, TX (July 21, 2016) -- John Derrick, James Glenn, Colby Harwell and Culley Barragan share medalist honors at the 2016 Texas Mid-Amateur Match Play at Northwood Club with 2 under par, 68s.

Culley Barragan, Dallas, member of Northwood Club, recorded the first 2 under par, 68 to take the title as the number one overall seed. Following Barragan is John Derrick of Waco as the number two seed, Colby Harwell, San Antonio, the third seed and James Glenn, Tyler, the fourth overall seed.

Barragan’s round featured three birdies with a lone bogey on the par 3, fifth hole. John Derrick’s round also only featured a single blemish which was on the difficult par 4, seventeenth. Colby Harwell was the only player in the field to escape the round without a single bogey on the score card. James Glenn’s scorecard however featured five birdies as well as three bogeys.

There was a 10 for 2 playoff at 4 over par, 74 following the 18 holes of stroke play to determine the final spots for match play. Gary Ezmerlian birdied the par 3, 16th to take the first spot from the playoff, and the 31st seed overall. Jeff Wolff outlasted four additional players over the course of six additional holes to claim the 32nd and final seed.

Northwood Club has previously played host to the 1952 U.S. Open and more recently the 2014 U.S. Open Sectional. The layout was most recently designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and is playing to a par 70, which measured to 6,755 yards for the Stroke Play Qualifying Round.

Starting times for the Round of 32 for Match Play will begin at 8:00 am on the first tee with first overall seed facing the thirty-second overall seed. After all the matches are complete, the Round of 16 will begin at approximately 1:00pm.

About the Texas Mid-Am Match Play
