Damon Palmer captures Mississippi Trustmark Invitational

Is the weekend of the amateurs at the Mississippi PGA Trustmark Invitational

OXFORD, MS (July 17, 2016) -- Amateurs dominated the Mississippi PGA Trustmark Invitational with Damon Palmer running away to win by seven-strokes. Palmer finished 12-under after just 54-holes at The Club of Oxford. Palmer combined rounds of 70-65-69 throughout the weekend. His best round, the 7-under 65 on Saturday, included eight birdies and one bogey. On Sunday Palmer finished things off with a five birdie, three bogey day. The front nine was comprised of two birdies and two bogeys; however the back nine was a sparkling clean three birdie 3-under 33. In all there were five amateurs that finished inside the top-5 and seven in the top-10. The additional amateurs inside the top-5 are Cameron Clarke, 5-under and in second, Brian Gates at 2-under in third and Austin Brown, Josh Oller 1-under and tied for fourth.
