Dan MacDonald prevails against Stewart Hagestad in a three-hole playoff
PARAMUS, NJ (July 8, 2016) -- Dan MacDonald and Stewart Hagestad both finished the one day 36-hole Arcola Cup 6-under, thus sending the action to a sudden death playoff. It took three extra holes at Arcola Country Club but in the end MacDonald was able to prevail.
MacDonald combined rounds of 71-67 to reach 6-under. His most impressive round was a bogey-free 5-under 67 during afternoon play. Birdies for MacDonald came on holes 6, 8, 10, 11 and 16.
Runner-up Stewart Hagestand has been snake bitten of late in playoffs. At the end of June Hagestand finished regulation at the George C. Thomas Invitational tied with Scott Harvey only to fall in a sudden death playoff.
On Friday Hagestand paired rounds of 67-71 before once more falling in a playoff. His best round of the day, the morning round, included six birdies and one bogey.
Trevor Randolph and Darin Goldstein finished 2-under, tied for third. Four players were even-par and fifth.
