Grant Smith posted a 54-hole score of 7-under to win the Fort Dodge Amateur at Fort Dodge Country Club
FORT DODGE, IA (July 3, 2016) -- Grant Smith posted a 54-hole score of 7-under to win the Fort Dodge Amateur at Fort Dodge Country Club. Smith, of Johnston, IA closed with a final day 5-under 66 to take the title.
Smith did most of his Sunday damage on the back nine with four birdies. The birdies came on holes 10, 11, 14 and 15. He birdied two and bogeyed one on the front nine.
Smith had 36-hole scores of 70-70 and was 2-under at the start of the final round.
Eddie Doyle finished 6-under and in second place. Doyle, from Fort Dodge, IA put together scores of 71-68-68. Andrew Huseman was 2-under and the final player under-par in third.
George Qian was fourth at 1-over and Tanner Randall was 4-over in fifth.
In the Senior Division Joe Bates was crowned the winner as he finished 9-over for the week. Bates, from Albia, IA tallied rounds of 71-72-79.
Terry Cook and Dave Gaer were 12-over and tied for second place.
About the Fort Dodge Amateur

Two-day stroke play tournament with Open and Senior divisions. In each division there is a Championship and First flight. This is an Iowa Golf Association points event.
