GEORGETOWN, TX (October 22, 2006)—The team of Charles Young of Cedar Park, TX and Eddie Podzemny of Austin, TX won the Bear Invitational on Sunday in a sudden-death playoff over Peter Dahlberg and Charlie Stevens of Fort Worth, TX. Dahlberg and Stevens, trailing by four heading into the final round, posted the day's low round, a 70, while Young and Podzemny closed with a 74 and an 8-under-par 208 total. The Louisiana team of Trey Coker and Rod Baronet began the final round one shot behind the leaders, but fell to third with a final-round 75 to finish two shots back at 210. Three teams finished tied for fourth at 5-under-par 211.

In the playoff, Young/Podzemny and Dahlberg/Stevens each had one player hit his approach into the water fronting the 18th green. After Dahlberg put his approach into the back bunker, Podzemny followed his long tee shot with a short iron to 15 feet, forcing Dahlberg to get up and down to extend the playoff. After Dahlberg hit a fine bunker shot to 5 feet, Podzemny had a putt for the win but narrowly missed. But Dahlberg was unable to convert his par putt, giving Young/Podzemny the title.
