Ben Cook, a Division II Ping All-American in 2015 at Ferris State captured the Grand Rapids City Championship
GRAND RAPIDS, MI (May 23, 2016) - Ben Cook, a Division II Ping All-American in 2015 at Ferris State, captured the Grand Rapids City Championship over the weekend. Cook outlasted Nate Golomb and Tom Werkmeister in a three-hole playoff to win the title at Cascade Hills Country Club. All three players finished the 54-hole event 1-over.
Cook reached the playoff thanks to a strong 2-under-par final round 69. He began the day 3-over after rounds of 73-72 but was able to surge during the third round.
Golomb was the co-leader after a 3-under 68 in the first round before finishing 74-72 during Sunday's 36-holes. Werkmeister put together rounds of 70-75-71 to earn his way into the playoff. Golomb and Werkmeister ended up sharing second place.
Zachary Bialik finished 3-over and in fourth while Mike Messner at 4-over was fifth.

54-hole event played in two days. The field is cut to low 60 players and ties after the first round.
