Barry Hume leads after second round of Welsh Open

Barry Hume has taken the second round lead at the Welsh Open Amateur
HARLECH, WALES (May 21, 2016) - Scotsman Barry Hume, looking to add to his impressive amateur career has grabbed the lead at 2016 Welsh Amateur Open. At the start of the day Hume was in a six-way tie for second place but after putting together a second round 3-under 66 he moved to 5-under for the tournament, taking the lead by one.
Playing at the par-69 Royal St. Davids Golf Club, Hume birdied the first two holes before giving but gave both shots back with bogeys on three and six. Following a par on seven Hume got back into red figures for the day with an eagle on the par-5 eighth. Hume, who has played in two Open Championships, tallied one more birdie on the 16th hole securing the 36-hole lead.
First round leader Calum Fyfe is now tied for second with Harrison Woan only one shot back at 4-under. Fyfe shot a 1-under 68 one day after an opening round 3-under 66.
Three other players are 3-under and tied for fourth while two more are 2-under sharing seventh.
ROUND ONE RECAP
With a first round 3-under 66 Calum Fyfe has grabbed the first round lead at the Welsh Open Amateur. Fyfe will carry a one-stroke lead over a half dozen golfers into Saturday's second round on the rare par-69 Royal St. Davids Golf Club.
Fyfe, jump started his round with back-to-back birdies on the first two holes and continued the torrid start with a birdie on the sixth hole moving him to 3-under for the day. The Scotsman did cool off but Fyfe, who finished second at last year's Scottish Boys Stroke Play Championship, was still able to post the 18-hole lead.
Fyfe carded five birdies and two bogeys during his first round.
The six players tied for second include Rhys Jones, Gian-Marco Petrozzi, Harrison Woan, Barry Hume, Will Porter and Lee Shepard. All six shot an opening round 2-under 67. A trio of players share eighth at 1-under while another half dozen at even-par and three back tied for 11th.
