We're almost halfway through U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifying, with 10 of the 25 locations reporting
Unlike the Men's U.S. Open, the Women's Open does not have an 18-hole local qualifying to determine who makes it to sectionals. There is just one 36 hole qualifier required -- advance through and it's on to the big show at Cordevalle in California.
MAY 9 - THE HOME COURSE, Dupont, Washington
Naomi Ko, a 19-year-old amateur, grabbed the only spot available at this qualifier. After shooting 2-over par 74 in today's morning round, Ko bogeyed the par-4 first hole in the afternoon round and was seemingly out of the running, but then found her game and proceeded to go 6-under par over the remaining 17 holes, with birdies on three of her final five holes to grab the lead in the clubhouse.
