CARMICHAEL, CA (May 12, 2016) - Thanks to a pair of 2-under 70's at the Ancil Hoffman Golf Club Mitch Harrison was able to finish 4-under and win the Sacramento County Senior by three-strokes. Harrison finished comfortably in front of second place finisher Steve Wilson who finished 1-under and shot the round of the tournament in the second round with a 4-under 68. Gary Vanier was third at 1-over.

In the Super Senior Division Mark Miller with a 1-over score won in dramatic fashion. Miller was safely in the clubhouse when current leader Frank Pieper approached the 18th hole leading by one. Needing par to secure the title Pieper lost his drive left and had to re-tee and he ended up with a double-bogey. Pieper finished in a tie for second with Bob Thomason at 2-over.

ABOUT THE Sacramento County Senior

The 47th annual County Senior & Super Senior Men's Championship will be contested at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 4 and 5, 2020. The tournament is open to all male amateur golfers age 55 and older as of August 4, 2020, who are members of an organized golf club with an established World Handicap System (WHS) Index of 9.4 or less. There will be two separate flights - Seniors (age 55-64) and Super Seniors (age 65 and older). The Super Senior flight will also include a Legends division (age 75 and older).

The entry fee is $165 per player and includes two days green fees, range balls both days and awards - power cart not included. The entry deadline is July 27 and there will be no refunds after this date. There will be a $10 cancellation fee for withdrawals prior to the entry deadline and a $25 service charge for returned checks.

The tournament format is 36 holes of stroke play – 18 holes each day. Ties for champion in both flights will be decided in a sudden death playoff. All other ties will be divided evenly by the sum of the combined places. The lowest 36- hole gross scores in the respective flights will be declared the 2020 County Sr. and Super Senior Men’s Champion. The names will be inscribed on the perpetual trophy.
