Led by 5 PGA Tour players, the team of Central Texas professionals overwhelms the amateurs to stop the amateur winning streak at 3
The Hannon Cup is a Ryder Cup style team event between Central Texas amateurs and professionals. The event honors George Hannon, the long-time coach of the University of Texas whose players included Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, Phil Blackmar, Mark Brooks, and Brandel Chamblee.
This year's professional team includes five players who are current or former PGA Tour players: Rich Beem, Joe Ogilvie, Wes Short, Omar Urresti, and Brad Lardon. Of these five, only Lardon lost a match, 1-down to Cameron Greenwood in singles.
On day 1, the professionals took a 6-1 lead after the morning session of Best Ball matches, and then won the afternoon Alternate Shot session 5-2. The final day featured 14 singles matches, with the professionals taking that session 12-2.
