Robert Pannell wins Mississippi Senior Amateur

Despite second and third rounds of 74 and 76, Robert Pannell still managed to secure a one-shot win at Clarksdale Country Club

CLARKSDALE, Miss. — Robert Pannell opened the 2015 Mississippi Senior Amateur with a 4-under par round of 67, which gave him a quick six-shot lead. Despite struggling during his second and third rounds at Clarksdale Country Club, Pannell squeaked out a one-shot victory over David Allen. Pannell, of Greenwood, made four birdies and no bogeys in his stellar first round, but in Sunday's final round, had zero red numbers on his card. Still, 74 and 76 got the job done. Allen, who entered the day six back, made a remarkable comeback attempt after going four over his first three holes. He made four birdies to wrap up his front nine and went even on the back to finish just a shot behind Pannell. Rickey Riley carded 73-73-74 to take third place, while Robert David Smith and Alan Boone tied for fourth at 9-over 222.
