Palm Beach County Sheehan Realty: Hammer Wins with 67

Kevin Hammer, playing the course he grew up on, won the 12th annual Sheehan Realty Challenge

BOYNTON BEACH, Florida (August 18, 2006) -- Kevin Hammer, playing the course he grew up on, won the 12th annual Sheehan Realty Challenge conducted by the Palm Beach County Golf Association on Friday at Delray Dunes Country Club. Hammer shot a two under par 67 on the course playing about 6,300 yards. He birdied Nos. 4, 5, 9, 16 and 17, made a double bogey at the par-3 seventh and bogied the par-4 13th. It was Hammer's first PBCGA victory. He recently was the medalist at a local qualifier for the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. Kevin's father, Laurie, is the only head professional Delray Dunes has ever had. The club opened in 1969. Qualifying for the Palm Beach County Mid-Amateur is next on the PBCGA schedule, Aug. 26 at Bear Lakes CC. The championship will be played Sept. 8-10, also at Bear Lakes.
