Winners Taisei Negishi and Yui Kawamoto, both of Japan, next week’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship

The final day for the 15-18 divisions concluded on Wednesday with 42 Boys and 42 Girls making the cut to the final round of play. The Boys 15-18 Division competed on the par 70 Sycuan Willow Glen Course and we had an amazing battle between all of the top finishers the final day. The 36-Hole leader Taisei Negishi from Japan played a solid final round finishing with a 1-over par 71 and a one stroke victory over two players. With his victory, Taisei has qualified for next week’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship. Finishing in T2 at 3 under par is Ruperto Zaragosa from the Philippines who was the only player to score 3 straight under par rounds. Daniel Kolar from Australia made a late charge on the back 9 firing a 2 under par 33 to nearly miss by 1 stroke and finished at 3 under par for the championship. There was a 4 way tie for 4th place at 1 under par total with Cameron Sisk from San Diego, Yash Majmudar from India, Leon D’Souza from Hong Kong, and Daniel Faccini from Colombia. We thank everyone for joining us for our largest tournament to date. Good luck to all players in next week’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship. The Girls 15-18 Division competed three days on Sycuan Oak Glen. The course proved to be quite a challenge for the competitors. The 2015 FCG International Champion is Yui Kawamoto, who also comes from Japan. She had a very impressive 3 under par 69 on the final round to win by 4 strokes. After stumbling on 16 and 17 with bogies, she finished strong making birdie on the par 5 18th. Yui has earned an exemption into next week’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship. Our 2nd place finisher is Wanping Huang from Taiwan, who had a final round 1 under par 71 and finished at plus 2 for the event. There was a tie for 3rd place with yu Sang Hou from Taiwan and Han Hsuan Yu also from Taiwan who also finished at plus 3. Finishing in 5th place is last year’s champion Pauline Del Rosario from the Philippines at 5 over par. Thank you to everyone for coming and making this year’s Championship our best ever. As a reminder the event will be televised on the Emmy award-winning television show Playing Through with John Weisbarth airing August through October on Foxsports and Comcast.
