Three-way tie at Florida Amateur through two rounds

OCALA, Fla. — Three players head into the weekend tied for first place with a six under-par 138 at the 98th Florida Amateur Championship conducted at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and Ocala National Golf Club.

The Championship continues with 70 competitors advancing to play the final 36-holes at Golden Ocala on June 27-28.

Jimmy Jones, Ryan Orr, and Jake Kevorkian finished with a 36-hole total 138 to tie for first place. Jones held on to his first place position after posting a round two 70 on Golden Ocala. Jones fired three birdies on the front-nine and one on the back-nine to continue his exceptional play.

The highlight of the day occurred on hole number five at Ocala National Golf Club when Ryan Orr scored a hole-in-one to propel him into a stream of three birdies on the back-nine. Orr posted a consistent second round score of 69 to finish tied for first at 138.

Jake Kevorkian carded three birdies on both the front and back nine at Ocala National to shoot a second 69 for the tournament, six under-par two day total.

Tied for fourth place is Cristobal Del Solar and past Boys' Junior Champion, Jacob Kline with a total five under-par, 139. Del Solar tied for the low round of the day, 67, to move into contention.

The cut was made at five over-par, 149, and 70 players will fight for the Championship starting Saturday, June 27. The final 36 holes will be played at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.

ABOUT THE Florida State Amateur

Started in 1914, the Amateur Championship is the oldest continuous sporting event in the state of Florida. The field will include exempt players and players who have qualified through 18 holes of stroke play at one of the qualifying sites. The Championship features a field of 168 players split alternately on two golf courses the first two days. The field is reduced to the low 70 and ties after the first two rounds to play an additional 36 holes of stroke play.
