Carl Jensen Blows Away Field at UGA Mid-Am
LEHI, UT (August 13, 2006) -- Carl Jensen started the final round of the UGA Mid-Am one stroke behind leader Dan Horner, but it didn’t take him long to grab an early lead and dominate the field the rest of the day. After an opening hole par Jensen birdied the next four holes to grab the lead that he never relinquished. On the back he finished with four straight threes to post a remarkable six under par 66 and won the title by eight strokes, the largest victory margin in the history of the event.
Dan Horner finished in second place while Herb Lyons and Jon Wright were another shot back at 216.
Kirk Siddens won the Masters Division by two shots over defending champion Steve Borget.
Scott Clark, who was trying for this third straight Mid-Am title, finished in a tie for 11th with scores of 71-72-79.
Jensen’s victory earns him a spot on the Utah team for the Arizona Shootout.
