Cy Moritz wins Old Warson Cup in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Central Missouri University graduating senior Cy Moritz, the 16-seed at the Old Warson Cup, upended five-time winner Skip Berkmeyer 2-and-1 in Sunday's final to take home the title.
The Old Warson Cup is a match play event conducted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association at Old Warson Country Club.
Facing his teammate Teddy Jones in Sunday morning's semifinal, Moritz executed a one-up victory to advance to the afternoon's final. Berkmeyer reached the championship match with a 5-and-3 victory over Kansas State redshirt senior Kyle Weldon.
As the 16-seed in the tournament, Moritz knocked out the top-seeded Phil Caravia 5-and-3 in Saturday morning's opening match, and followed that up with a 4-and-3 victory over Alex Cusumano.
Berkmeyer advanced to the semis Saturdau afternoon with two different 3-and-2 victories — one over Buddy Allen and the other over Ted Moloney.
