Jason Herrera wins Davis City on first playoff hole
DAVIS, Calif. — Jason Herrera used a final-round 64 at Davis Golf Course to force his way into a playoff, where he defeated Chase Dossa on the first playoff hole to capture the Davis City Championship.
Dossa, of Davis, posted rounds of 66 and 65 while Herrera, of Sacramento, shot 67 on Saturday before 64 on Sunday. First-round leader Nick Amen had a two-shot lead after a 62 on Saturday but his Sunday 70 had him settling for a third place finish.
Nicholas Fowler opened with 64 to sit two back of Amen but he too struggled on Sunday, shooting 71 and placing in a tie for seventh.
In the Senior Division, Tom Marks got off to a hot start, shooting 63 on Saturday and only needing 73 on Sunday to close out a two-shot win over Stan LeFrak, who posted 70-68.
