The Jones Cup runner-up led his Baylor Bears to a 16-point victory host University of Texas-San Antonio at Oak Hills
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Kyle Jones might not have secured a chance to play in a PGA TOUR event two weeks ago at the Jones Cup Invitational, when he lost in a playoff to Austin Connelly, but he did lead his Baylor Bears to a 16-shot thrashing of the 15-team field at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational.
Jones fired 71-67-67 en route to the individual title, which he won by two over Preston Stanley of Houston Baptist. Stanley held the first-round lead with a 66, but fired 72-69 in the final rounds to miss out on the medalist honor.
Baylor received a third-place finish from Andreas Gjesteby, who shot 70-73-67.
