Bob Kearney stays hot with win at Kingsway Senior
LAKE SUZY, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2015) — Bob Kearney is on quite the roll.
Having won the first major senior event of the 2015 year, the Old Corkscrew Senior Invitational a week ago, the Houston native travelled to the west coast of Florida and secured another major victory.
With rounds of 71-72-73, Kearney broke away from a four-way tie through 36 holes with Ron Carter, Mike Occi, and Steve Groom to capture a one-shot win.
K.C. Fox, who started the day two back, snuck into solo second place with a final-round 72.
Carter, who won the Gateway Senior on Saturday, and Groom, the 2013 Gateway Senior winner, both shot 75 on Wednesday and tied for third place, two shots behind the red-hot Kearney.
The defending champion Occi carded a 76 and took fifth place.
The Super Senior division was won by Berger Warner by three strokes over Gary Kirwan. Warner took second place in the Super Senior division at this year's Gateway Senior last Saturday.
The talented group of senior amateurs' next major event will begin on Friday in Ocala, Fla. at Stone Creek Golf Club for the Golfweek Senior National Championship.
