Tyler Parlsoe Earns Historic Win at CGA Junior Stroke Play Championship

BOULDER, CO (July 19,2006) -- For 2005 CGA Junior Player of the Year Tyler Parsloe of The Meadows GC, “3” has been a lucky number this year. Three weeks ago, Parsloe became only the third player to win consecutive CGA Junior Match Play Championships. Wednesday, Parsloe shot 72 in the final round for a three-under 207 to win the CGA Junior Stroke Play Championship at Flatirons Golf Course and become only the third player to win both the CGA Junior Match Play and Junior Stroke Play in the same year. Rick Cramer did it in 1977 (the inaugural year of the CGA Junior Stroke Play), and Mike Troyer did it in 1991. The win was his third CGA Junior Championship title in two years (two Match Play's and one Stroke Play), making him the first player in history to accomplish that feat. Parsloe, a sixteen year old junior at ThunderRidge High School, will be age eligible in 2007 to compete in both CGA Junior Championships and attempt to continue his historic run. Parsloe held a one-stroke lead over Adam Joiner (Aspen Glen GC) going into the final hole. Joiner tapped in for par and a 69, and Parsloe calmly proceeded to make a 19-foot par putt for the victory. Joiner earned the CGA Silver Medal for his runner-up finish at 208. Sean Gouran (Eagle Trace GC) shot perfect par (70-70-70—210) to finish third. Bryan Hackenberg (Riverdale GC) and Brian Larson (Boulder CC) tied for fourth at 213. For complete results, click on the tournament link above.
