Frank Plata, down by three shots heading into the final round, shot 69 on Thursday to win by one shot
CLAYVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 18, 2014) — Frank Plata (left), down by three shots heading into the final round of the New York State Senior Amateur, shot 69 on Thursday to win by one shot over second-round leader Tom Mueller.
Mueller, having shot 77-70 in the first two rounds, entered Thursday with a three-stroke advantage. But his 73, coupled with Plata's tournament-low round of 69, allowed for a comeback win for Plata.
In the Super Senior division, Randy Young (right) went wire-to-wire, shooting 76-73-78 to win by three shots over Dale Dirk. Dirk, shooting 78-75-77, finished in second place six shots ahead of third place.
About the New York Senior Amateur

Entries will be limited to male amateur golfers who enjoy membership privileges at Clubs belonging to the New York State Golf Association, or are NYSGA Associate Members. Entrants must have attained their 55th birthday.
