Clifford Smith, an amateur from Denair, Calif., is tied for third after shooting 72 at Clear Creek Tahoe on Monday

CARSON CITY, Nev. (Sept. 15, 2014) — Clifford Smith of Denair, Calif. shot an opening round 72 at the Northern California Senior Open, being held this year just across the state line in Carson City, Nev. at Ben Crenshaw's new course Clear Creek Tahoe. Smith is three shots behind leader Shawn McEntee, who shot 69, and is tied for third place. Another notable amateur, Casey Boyns, is five back after his 74.
