Knott claims SCGA Super Senior title by eight shots

TEMECULA, Calif. (September 3, 2014) — Kenneth Knott of Los Angeles shared the opening-round lead at the Southern California Super Senior Championship with Bruce Loman of Newport Coast at 70. But Knott went even lower on Wednesday, shooting a four-under par 68 to claim a eight-shot win at Temecula Creek Inn. Knott birdied two of this first three holes, made an eagle on eight, and made two more birdies down the stretch on the final day to extend his lead to an eventual eight. The lowest round of the day went to Kemp Richardson of Laguna Niguel, who shot 67 on Wednesday to jump into a tie for second place with Kent Richardson of Bakersfield. Richardson's 11-stroke score differential helped him jump at least 20 spots by the end of the tournament. First-round co-leader Loman shot 76 in the second round, also finishing in a tie for second.
