Simmerman goes back-to-back at San Antonio Match Play
SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (August 24, 2014) — For the second consecutive year, Danny Simmerman is the San Antonio Match Play championship.
By nature of his 2013 win, Simmerman was awarded the No. 1 seed entering the match play event consisting of 64 players. Simmerman had a couple close matches, including two matches that went 19 holes. Most recently, his semifinal matchup with former University of the Incarnate Word golfer Jared Cornish.
In Sunday's final, Simmerman battled John Culp until the 18th hole where Simmerman closed it out.

ABOUT THE San Antonio Match Play
18 hole stroke play qualifier to determine a match
play bracket of 32 players. Open to any male with
amateur status, 18 years
or older, residing in Bexar, Comal, Kendall,
Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Guadalupe, or
Bandera counties for a minimum of three
months prior to the Championship qualifier
date. (Military residents are exempt from the
three month residency requirement.)
