After waiting and watching the final groups come in for more than hour at the RICOH Women’s British Open, Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Mo Martin was finally able to let her accomplishment start to sink in as the newly crowned champion sat down for the post round interview.

“This is just unbelievable. It’s literally a dream come true.”It was certainly a day to remember for Martin as she battled the windy conditions at Royal Birkdale to earn her first career LPGA victory and major title.

Martin was the only player to finish the tournament under par and she capped off her final round with a dramatic eagle on the 18th hole to take the clubhouse lead with a 1-under-par 287 total.

Faced with a long approach shot and a howling wind, Martin sent her Pro V1 golf ball soaring toward the green and watched as the shot of the day unfolded.

“The wind was coming pretty strong, so I aimed it very far left and hit it full. Held it up a little bit against the wind and when it was rolling on the ground I said sit and then I said go. It looked perfect, so I didn’t have anything more to say and then it hit the pin,” recounted Martin.

She then rolled in a six-foot eagle putt that proved to be the difference maker as her name remained atop the leaderboard.
