Luis Fernandez Barco and Patricio Alzamora prevailed as the 15th-seed while top-seeded Bob Goodwin and Mike Peck won the Sr. title

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (June 8, 2014) -- Timothy Kane and Matt Sughrue knocked off the defending champions and top seed in the morning and but couldn't keep the magic going in the afternoon, falling to Luis Fernandez Barco and Patricio Alzamora in the championship match at the 2014 Anderson Memorial Four-Ball at Winged Foot. Barco and Alzamora, representing Peru's Lima Golf Club, prevailed as the 15th-seeded team in the event's 32-team match-play bracket. They beat Pascal Grizot and Bertrand Noel in Sunday morning's semifinals before beating Kane and Sughrue, 4 and 3, in the afternoon finale. On Saturday, the winners defeated the talented team of Kevin Marsh and Giles Kibbe from The Floridian to advance to Sunday's matches. Kane and Sughrue, meanwhile, will certainly take away the big win over defending champions Max Buckley and Max Christiana. Buckley is a former SMU golfer and one of the game's rising mid-amateurs while Christiana plays currently at Boston College. In the Senior Division, top-seeded team Bart Goodwin and Mike Peck completed their dominant run, defeating Jay Pumphrey and Dave Clement, 6 and 4, in Sunday's final match to win their second straight Senior crown. The winners defeated Bob Howe and Mike Murr in Sunday morning's semifinals while Pumphrey and Clement advanced with a win over Tom Yellin and Jack Kiernan. The Anderson Memorial Four-Ball is perhaps the nation's premier four-ball invitational. With many of the game's top competitive mid-amateurs and seniors, the Anderson is played annually at famed Winged Foot, site of many major amateur and professional championships and the 2020 U.S. Open.
