FCWT Girls National Championship: Fonseca wins title
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (May 27, 2014) -- In the Girls 15-19 division, Viviana Vazquez of Monterrey, Mexico (2015) and Ariadna Fonseca of Venezuela (2015), whose opening round of 69 gave her the early lead, finished tied for the lead at 5 under par at the end of 54-holes of tournament golf. Viviana had taken the lead on Sunday when she fired a 69. Ariadna fired back on Monday with a round of 70 to force a playoff. On the first playoff hole, Ariadna made a par to win the Girls Championship Title. Divya Manthena of Moorpark, CA (2015) earned the Low Round honors for her Monday round of 3 under par 69. Divya finished in 3rd place. Three young ladies shared fourth place at 223: Maho Hayakawa of Japan (2014), Diana Camila Velez of Puerto Rico (2016) and Morgan Goldstien of Las Vegas, NV (2019).
Nancy Lian of Beijing, China (2018) took the lead in the Girls 11-14 division by firing a 69. The lead she achieved in Sunday’s Second Round couldn’t be overcome during the final round on Monday, making Nancy the FCWT Girls 11-14 division winner in the 2014 Tour Championship. Alice Yu (2019) and Jennifer Zhou (2018) both of China finished tied for second at 230, 6 strokes back of Nancy. Amelia Root of Jacksonville, FL (2018) carded a final round of 70 and finished at 231, just one stroke back of Yu and Zhou. Well-played ladies!
